How do records get matched between the two?

Accepted Answer

On the fields both systems already treat as natural keys. Companies match on domain, which HubSpot and Attio both key on, so no identifier translation table is needed. People match on email address. If you would rather be explicit, you can match on a unique custom attribute carrying the HubSpot record identifier instead. Matching on a non unique attribute is possible but will update every record that matches, so it is worth avoiding.

Can a sync add records to an Attio list?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Each Attio list is available as its own sync target, so a segment can be written straight into a named list rather than only creating or updating the underlying record, and list entry attributes can be set at the same time. Two limits are worth planning around: a sync cannot remove a record from a list, and it cannot create a new list. Create the list in Attio first, then point the sync at it.

Can both systems stay in step at once?

Accepted Answer

Yes, using a sync in each direction, each with its own field mapping and schedule. That separation is what makes running both tools workable: marketing can own lifecycle fields in one system while sales owns pipeline fields in the other, and you choose per field which direction is authoritative rather than having the two overwrite each other on every run.

What happens with select and multiselect fields?

Accepted Answer

Multiselect attributes are supported, and by default writes merge with what is already on the record rather than replacing it. If you would rather the model be authoritative, there is a setting to treat multiselect values as replacements. New select and multiselect options can be created automatically when that is enabled, which saves maintaining a matching picklist by hand. An unmatched option is one of the more common configuration traps on this connector.
