What does the connection need on the Azure side?

A storage account and a container, plus one of three credential types: an account access key, service principal credentials using a tenant and client identity, or delegated OAuth. Which you choose is usually dictated by how your organisation handles cloud identity rather than by the sync itself. The write behaviour, formats and path handling are identical whichever credential type you pick.

How do the write modes behave?

Replicate maintains a single stable object that is replaced on every run, so a consumer can point at one fixed path indefinitely. Snapshot writes a new timestamped object each run, which builds a history in the container. There is also an incremental option available on replicate that writes only changed records as new timestamped files, which suits feeding a downstream process that consumes deltas rather than reprocessing everything.

How are output paths configured?

As the container and prefix on the connection, then an optional subfolder, then the output name, which is set per source schema. Subfolders and names are evaluated as expressions, so datetime expressions can generate dated folder structures without anyone maintaining them. There is no field based partitioning and no compression codec setting, so expression driven paths are the mechanism for organising output.

Does every run export the full dataset?

Only if you want it to. On the Snowflake side, configuring a tracking column means later runs read incrementally rather than scanning the table in full, which is the main lever on runtime and warehouse cost. On the storage side, the incremental write option then writes only the changed records rather than a complete file. The first run is always a full read, and deleted rows are not detected by watermark reads, so an occasional full run keeps things aligned.
