Snowflake

Polytomic connects Snowflake to your data warehouse, databases, and SaaS tools for analytics ETL and reverse ETL. Load data into Snowflake from over a hundred sources, and sync modelled results out to Salesforce, HubSpot, and more, without writing code.

Full bidirectional ETL

Sync in both directions between Snowflake and your systems.

Optimized for scale

Efficient operations minimize Snowflake compute costs.

Native type mapping

ARRAY, VARIANT, and BINARY map natively rather than becoming strings.

Example workflows

Load CRM, billing, and product data into Snowflake

What you can sync

Move data between Snowflake and your data warehouse, databases, and SaaS tools, in both directions.

From Snowflake

Tables and views across schemas
Custom SQL as a model source
Incremental reads on one or more tracking columns
ARRAY, VARIANT, and BINARY as native types

To Snowflake

Tables, created and migrated automatically
Create, update, create or update, replace, and append
Loading through Snowflake's internal stage
Keyed merges through a transient staging table
Optional clustering key on a datetime field

How it works

Connect Snowflake and sync in both directions. Read tables, views, or custom SQL into other systems, or load data into Snowflake from over a hundred sources with tables created and columns migrated automatically as your source schemas change.

Loading uses Snowflake's own internal stage, so there is no bucket for you to provision, region match, or grant access to. Polytomic uploads staged files, runs COPY, merges through a transient table when there is a key, and clears up afterwards.

  • Connect Snowflake with password or key pair authentication
  • Read tables, views, or write custom SQL as a model source
  • Sync incrementally using one or more tracking columns
  • Loads staged internally and applied with COPY, then merged
  • Choose resync, resync and truncate, or resync and rebuild
  • Monitor sync health, record volume, and failures from one interface

How to set up

Key pair authentication is the recommended option and accepts passphrase protected private keys. Password authentication also works but Snowflake is deprecating it. Role, region, and other driver settings can be supplied through additional parameters.

How to get connected
  1. 1Create a dedicated Snowflake role and warehouse for Polytomic
  2. 2Grant usage on the warehouse, database, and schema, plus select on sources
  3. 3For destinations, grant create table, insert, alter, truncate, and drop
  4. 4Generate a key pair and register the public key on the Snowflake user
  5. 5In Polytomic, add the Snowflake connection and test it
  6. 6Select tables or build a model, set a schedule, and click Save

See the documentation for full setup details.
