What does the DynamoDB connection need?

An AWS region, and either a static access key and secret or an assumed IAM role ARN with the External ID Polytomic generates. That is genuinely all of it. There is no host, port, database name, SSH tunnel or TLS configuration, because DynamoDB is reached as an AWS API rather than as a database endpoint, and no VPC endpoint setting is exposed either.

How does that differ from the other database connectors?

Substantially. PostgreSQL and MySQL both take host, port and credentials and offer SSH tunnelling. MongoDB takes hosts, an auth database and an SRV toggle. DynamoDB takes none of it. If you are used to opening a network path before a database sync will run, there is nothing to open here beyond getting the IAM permissions right.

Which Front objects accept writes from an item?

Accepted Answer

Accounts and contacts, and nothing else. Create and update, create only, and update only are all supported. Deletes are not, so an item disappearing from your table removes nothing from Front.

What identifies the Front record to update?

Accepted Answer

Accounts on Front's ID, external ID or domains. Contacts on Front's ID or email address. Matching is equality or array membership against a cached snapshot of Front, so a non unique identity that matches several records can update all of them.

Why does the run take longer than the item count suggests?

Accepted Answer

Because Front's rate limit governs the write, not your table. Polytomic throttles to eighty percent of the limit Front reports, writes in batches of two hundred and fifty with at most two concurrent jobs per connection, and retries honour Retry After for up to a hundred attempts.
