What can I write to Front?

Accounts on Front's ID, external ID or domains. Contacts on Front's ID or email address. Matching is equality or array membership against a cached snapshot of Front, so a non unique identity that matches several records can end up updating all of them.

Why does the model shape decide the runtime?

Because Front's own rate limit governs the pace, not your cluster. Polytomic throttles to eighty percent of the limit Front reports, writes in batches of two hundred and fifty with at most two concurrent jobs per connection, and retries honour Retry After for up to a hundred attempts. Fewer, richer records therefore finish sooner than many thin ones, which is a direct argument for aggregating in the pipeline first.

Which fields can a document set on Front?

On accounts: name, which is required, plus description, domains, external ID at creation time, and custom fields. On contacts: name, description, spammer status, links, group names, emails and handles, and custom fields. Existing Front custom fields are discovered dynamically and typed for you.

Do unmapped custom fields survive an update?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Account updates merge the custom fields you mapped with the values already present, so anything unmapped survives untouched. If account custom fields are not appearing in the mapping at all, that is usually a permissions issue on the Front side rather than a problem with the sync.
