Which NetSuite connector should I use here?

SuiteAnalytics, if you are licensed for the Connect module. It is purpose built as a source and exposes the broad analytical table catalogue, custom columns included. The regular NetSuite connector is the right choice when SuiteAnalytics is not available, or when you need to write back into NetSuite. Its source catalogue is narrower and limited to four concurrent objects.

What has to exist before the first sync?

Quite a lot, and this is the longest setup of any source that lands in Postgres. The SuiteAnalytics Connect module, OAuth 2.0 enabled, a machine to machine integration carrying the SuiteAnalytics Connect scope, a web services role with that permission, a dedicated user assigned to the role, and an RSA certificate pair whose public half you upload to NetSuite. You then give Polytomic the account ID, role ID, client ID, certificate ID and private key. IP allowlisting may also be required.

Does it read everything every run?

The first ETL run does. After that it works object by object. Anything SuiteAnalytics exposes with both a last modified field and a unique identifier reads incrementally from a checkpoint. Anything without falls back to a full read every time. Transaction line and inventory assignment tables get their own parent based incremental handling.

How do NetSuite types land in Postgres?

Accepted Answer

SuiteAnalytics metadata drives the schema. Character and CLOB fields become TEXT, integers become integer types, doubles become DOUBLE PRECISION unless a valid precision and scale allow NUMERIC, dates and timestamps map straight across, and booleans become BOOLEAN. Anything unrecognised falls back to a string rather than failing the sync.

Are custom fields included?

Yes, and without any special handling. SuiteAnalytics presents them as ordinary columns, so they arrive carrying the datatype it reports rather than being bundled into a JSON blob for you to unpack later. That is the main practical reason to prefer this connector for reporting work.
