Can I write nested documents?

Yes. Destination field IDs are not limited to the top level, so a dotted name such as profile.city is serialized into a nested document. One caveat worth knowing: destination field discovery samples top level fields only, so a nested leaf you want to write may need adding explicitly as a new dotted field rather than appearing in the list on its own.

How do Airtable's multi value fields land?

Multi selects, links, collaborators, lookups and attachments are arrays on the Airtable side and arrive as array values in the document, which suits a document store considerably better than it suits a relational one. Attachments reduce to URLs and collaborators to email addresses.

What should I use as the identity?

The Airtable record ID. It is the only genuinely stable key, since a primary field can be edited by anyone with base access. Map it to _id if the collection exists to mirror the base, or to an ordinary field if the collection holds your own data being enriched.

Does it read incrementally?

No. Every ETL run paginates the table or view in full, because the bulk reader has no modified time cursor to work from. Airtable bases are usually small enough that this does not matter in practice.

The document remains. MongoDB destinations support no delete mode, so nothing removes it. With Airtable this catches people out more than with most sources, because deleting rows in a base feels routine in a way that deleting database records does not.
