Can I limit what a run costs?

Accepted Answer

Not through a setting. The connector exposes no read capacity ceiling, request rate control or throttle of its own, and it uses the standard AWS client, so AWS side throttling and retry is what you get. Your real controls are the schedule and the model shape: an index backed query rather than a full scan is the meaningful lever.

Will contacts be removed when items are deleted?

Accepted Answer

No. SendGrid offers no delete, update only, append or replace mode here, so a contact written once stays until something else removes it. Combined with DynamoDB items being deleted routinely in many designs, that mismatch is worth planning for rather than discovering when a suppression list turns out to be wrong.

Which SendGrid objects accept writes from an item?

Accepted Answer

Marketing contacts, and a specific marketing list, which upserts the same contact records and adds them to that list. Polytomic can create a new list during setup. Campaigns, templates, transactional messages, suppressions and senders are not accepted.

Question 4

Which identifiers can drive the upsert?

Accepted Answer

Exactly five: email, contact ID, external ID, anonymous ID and phone number ID. Create or update is the only mode available and an identity is required, so one of those five has to be present on every item the model returns.

Question 5

Can a new custom field be created?

Accepted Answer

Yes, as text, number or date. Names cap at a hundred characters and allow only letters, digits and underscores, so a DynamoDB attribute name containing a dot or a dash needs aliasing in the model before SendGrid will take it.
