Will long message bodies be truncated?

Accepted Answer

They can be. Ordinary strings are created as NVARCHAR(4000) and values are limited to four thousand runes on this destination. A support conversation carrying a long pasted log or a detailed reply can exceed that. Arrays, objects and values Polytomic cannot type confidently use NVARCHAR(MAX) instead, so the cap applies to plain scalar text rather than to everything.

Which Intercom objects land in Azure SQL?

Admins, companies, contacts, conversations, conversation parts, tags, teams, tickets, ticket parts and ticket types. Conversation parts and ticket parts hold the individual messages rather than the thread header, which is what response time analysis actually needs.

Which objects read incrementally?

Accepted Answer

Contacts and conversations do an initial load and then refresh on updated at. Tickets and ticket parts do the same after an initial history load. Admins, companies, tags, teams and ticket types are a full API scan on every ETL run, which is fine because they are small.

Do Intercom deletes reach Azure SQL?

Accepted Answer

Not reliably. The connector has no Intercom delete or tombstone feed, so for incrementally read objects a hard delete is not detected. Archiving usually arrives as an ordinary update instead, wherever Intercom exposes the status field.

What does Intercom authentication require?

OAuth, and one detail catches people out: Intercom requires an account with read and write permission even though Polytomic is only reading from it.
