Which TikTok objects read incrementally and which do not?

Ads and Smart Plus ads read incrementally using TikTok's modified after filter, checkpointed at the start of each run. Everything else on the entity side is a full snapshot, because those APIs offer no usable modified filter. On the reporting side, daily and hourly reports checkpoint on their time dimension and reread the last three days, while lifetime reports are always read in full. Default backfill is one year. Knowing which is which matters when you are estimating how much a frequent schedule will actually move.

Should I load the hourly TikTok reports into Redshift?

Accepted Answer

Only if something actually uses them, because they multiply rows by twenty four and that lands on cluster storage you are paying for whether or not anyone queries it. If you do take them, set the report date as the sort key so a query for last week does not scan the whole table. The daily reports answer most questions at a fraction of the footprint, which on a fixed size cluster is a more meaningful trade than it would be on usage priced storage.

Why are some TikTok tables missing after I changed app scopes?

Because existing tokens do not pick up new scopes. Permissions are granular, with account information, ads and ad groups and campaigns, audiences, creatives, Smart Plus, GMV Max and reporting each needing their own read grant, and updating the app does not refresh a token that was issued earlier. The advertiser has to authorise again before anything changes. Separately, video and image endpoints only ever expose the 10,000 most recently modified items, which can look like missing data but is not a permissions problem.

Working out whether a campaign brought buyers who came back means putting ad data next to orders, subscriptions or CRM records, and no ad platform can do that for you.
