What QuickBooks data can I sync to Snowflake?

Accounts, bills and bill payments, budgets, classes, credit memos, customers and customer types, departments, deposits, employees, estimates, invoices, items, journal entries, payments and payment methods, purchases and purchase orders, refund and sales receipts, tax agencies, codes and rates, terms, time activities, transfers, vendors and vendor credits. Reports come across too, including general ledger, balance sheet, vendor expenses, customer balance and cash flow, in cash or accrual and by week, month or quarter.

Does this work with QuickBooks Desktop?

No. The connector uses the QuickBooks Online Accounting API, so QuickBooks Online editions work, including Advanced. There is no Desktop or Self-Employed support. This is worth checking before you plan anything, because the two products are quite different underneath and a Desktop file cannot be reached the same way.

Does Polytomic pick up deleted QuickBooks transactions?

Yes, for the objects QuickBooks includes in its change tracking feed. The connector reads that feed, turns a deleted status into an actual delete, and applies it in Snowflake. It uses a one day overlap and looks back up to ten days. The thing to know is that ordinary reads, the ones that just filter on last updated time, do not surface deletes by themselves. The change tracking path is what makes deletion reliable, so a voided or deleted invoice does not sit in your data warehouse forever.

How does incremental sync work for QuickBooks?

Most objects are queried on their last updated time, asking for anything newer than the last saved position and reading in ascending order. That keeps normal runs small once the first load is done. Reports work differently, because a report is a calculation over a date window rather than a list of records, so each report has its own date window handling rather than a simple cursor.
