Asana

Polytomic connects Asana to your data warehouse, databases, and SaaS tools for ETL and project analytics. Replicate tasks, projects, portfolios, goals, and status updates into your data warehouse and other systems so delivery data can be reported alongside the rest of your business, without writing code.

Beyond tasks and projects

Portfolios, goals, status updates, stories, sections, teams, and tags.

Scope by project

Select specific projects instead of reading every workspace you can see.

Task activity history

Stories capture the comment and change history behind each task.

What you can sync

Asana is supported as a source. Read your workspace object model and land it in your data warehouse, databases, or SaaS tools.

From Asana

Tasks, sections, and tags
Projects, portfolios, and goals
Workspaces, teams, and users
Stories, the comment and change history on tasks
Status updates on projects, portfolios, and goals
Custom fields and custom field settings

To your destinations

Data warehouses including Snowflake, BigQuery, and Databricks
Databases including PostgreSQL and MySQL
Cloud storage including Amazon S3 and Google Cloud Storage
SaaS tools including Salesforce, HubSpot, and spreadsheets

How it works

Connect Asana with OAuth and choose the objects you want. Polytomic reads them into your data warehouse, databases, or SaaS tools, so project delivery data can be joined to revenue, support, and headcount rather than being trapped in Asana's own reporting.

You can scope a connection to specific projects, which narrows tasks, sections, stories, and project status updates to just those projects. Without a selection, Polytomic reads everything the authorizing user can see across all their workspaces.

  • Discover tasks, projects, portfolios, goals, teams, users, and tags
  • Scope the connection to specific projects when you do not want everything
  • Pull stories to reconstruct task comment and change history
  • Read status updates for projects, portfolios, and goals
  • Retry automatically with bounded backoff on rate limits
  • Monitor sync health, record volume, and failures from one interface

How to set up

Polytomic connects to Asana using OAuth with offline refresh, so tokens renew automatically. Everything the connection can read follows the visibility of the user who authorizes it, which means a user with narrow workspace access produces a narrow sync.

How to get connected
  1. 1In Polytomic, navigate to Connections, then Add Connection, then Asana
  2. 2Click Connect to Asana
  3. 3Authorize with a user who can see the workspaces and projects you need
  4. 4Optionally select specific projects to scope the connection
  5. 5Test the connection
  6. 6Click Save

See the documentation for full setup details.
