Tables, views, or SQL

Select objects from the catalog or supply your own Synapse SQL query.

Incremental reads

Nominate a tracking column and each run moves only what changed.

Connects to the SQL endpoint

Uses the standard SQL protocol against your Synapse SQL endpoint.

Example workflows

Replicate Synapse tables into your data warehouse and other systems

What you can sync

Azure Synapse is supported as a source. Read tables, views, and SQL queries, then land the results in your data warehouse, databases, or SaaS tools.

From Azure Synapse

Tables and views discovered from the catalog
Custom SQL queries as model sources
Incremental reads using a tracking column
Full table reads

To your destinations

Data warehouses including Snowflake, BigQuery, and Databricks
Databases including PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Azure SQL
Cloud storage including Amazon S3 and Azure Blob Storage
SaaS tools including Salesforce, HubSpot, and Attio

How it works

Connect Azure Synapse with standard SQL credentials against your Synapse SQL endpoint. Polytomic discovers tables and views, or you can supply your own query, and lands the results in your data warehouse, databases, or SaaS tools.

Type handling, object discovery, and incremental behavior follow standard SQL conventions, so Synapse tables and views map onto your destination the way you would expect without special configuration.

  • Connect with server, port, database, username, and password
  • Discover tables and views through the standard information schema
  • Select objects, or supply a custom SQL query
  • Read incrementally on a tracking column, or in full
  • Land results in any Polytomic destination
  • Monitor sync health, record volume, and failures from one interface

How to set up

Polytomic connects to your Synapse SQL endpoint over the standard SQL protocol using a username and password. You supply the server, database, and port, and the connection covers one database.

How to get connected
  1. 1In Azure, note your Synapse SQL endpoint hostname
  2. 2Create a SQL user with read access to the objects you need
  3. 3In Polytomic, navigate to Connections, then Add Connection, then Azure Synapse
  4. 4Enter the server, port, database, username, and password
  5. 5Test the connection
  6. 6Select the tables and views you want to sync and click Save

See the documentation for full setup details.
