Google Cloud MySQL

Polytomic connects Google Cloud MySQL to your data warehouse, databases, and SaaS tools for ETL and reverse ETL. Sync tables out of Cloud SQL for reporting, or write modeled results back in, without writing code.

Log based change capture

Turn on replication to capture inserts, updates, and deletes straight from the binlog instead of polling a tracking field.

IAM secured connection

Authenticate with a service account key through Google's Cloud SQL connector for a direct, IAM secured connection to your instance.

Schema changes handled

Tables, databases, and columns are created and migrated automatically as your source structure changes, on both sides of the sync.

Example workflows

Load application data from Google Cloud MySQL into your data warehouse

What you can sync

Move data between Google Cloud MySQL and your data warehouse, databases, and SaaS tools, in both directions.

From Google Cloud MySQL

Tables and views across your Cloud SQL database
Custom SQL as a model source
Incremental reads on a tracking field
Row level changes via binlog replication, when enabled

To Google Cloud MySQL

Tables, created and migrated automatically
Databases created automatically to hold synced tables
Create, update, upsert, and replace
Unique indexes created automatically to support upserts

How it works

Connect Google Cloud MySQL and sync tables and views in both directions. Read data out for analytics, or write modeled results back in, with tables, databases, and columns created and migrated automatically as your source changes.

Polytomic connects through Google's Cloud SQL connector using a service account, authenticating by instance connection name rather than a raw host and port. Turn on replication to read row level inserts, updates, and deletes directly from the binlog instead of polling a tracking field.

  • Tables and views discovered automatically across your Cloud SQL database
  • Custom SQL queries usable as a model source
  • Incremental reads on a tracking field such as updated_at
  • Row level inserts, updates, and deletes captured through binlog replication
  • Connects through the Cloud SQL connector with IAM authentication
  • Destination tables and columns created and migrated automatically

How to set up

Google Cloud MySQL connects through Google's Cloud SQL connector rather than a direct host and port. You will need the instance connection name from the Google Cloud console and a service account key with access to the database.

How to get connected
  1. 1In Google Cloud, create a service account with access to the Cloud SQL instance and download its JSON key
  2. 2In Polytomic, go to Connections, click Add connection, and select Google Cloud MySQL
  3. 3Enter the Cloud SQL connection name, database, username, and service account key, then click Save
