Heap

Polytomic connects your data warehouse, databases, and SaaS tools to Heap for reverse ETL. Sync user properties from your data warehouse and other systems into Heap so product analytics can segment on billing, plan, and CRM attributes, without writing code.

Enrich Heap users

Write any user property from your data warehouse onto Heap profiles.

Efficient batched writes

Up to a thousand users per request keeps large syncs fast.

Create or update on identity

Matches on Heap identity and creates the user when it does not exist.

Example workflows

Sync user properties from your data warehouse into Heap

What you can sync

Heap is supported as a destination for user properties. Build a model on your data warehouse, database, or SaaS tools and write enriched attributes onto Heap user profiles.

To Heap

Heap user properties
Matching on Heap identity, creating the user if absent
Arbitrary custom property names of your choosing
Email as a predefined property
Batched writes of up to a thousand users per request

How it works

Build a model on your data warehouse, database, or SaaS tools, map the identity field to your Heap identity, and map whatever attributes you want onto Heap user properties. This is reverse ETL for product analytics: the attributes you derive in your data warehouse become dimensions your team can segment on inside Heap.

Heap already captures what users do. What it does not know is what they pay, which plan they are on, or how their account is trending. Syncing those attributes from your data warehouse is what turns behavioral data into analysis that finance and customer success also trust.

  • Connect Heap with your Heap App ID
  • Map your model's identity column to the Heap identity field
  • Map any columns you want onto Heap user properties
  • Use predefined email or arbitrary custom property names
  • Write in batches of up to a thousand users per request
  • Monitor sync health, record volume, and failures from one interface

How to set up

Polytomic connects to Heap using your Heap environment's App ID and writes through Heap's user properties API. Setup is a single identifier, with no OAuth flow or API secret required.

How to get connected
  1. 1In Heap, find the App ID for the environment you want to write to
  2. 2In Polytomic, navigate to Connections, then Add Connection, then Heap
  3. 3Paste the Heap App ID
  4. 4Create a sync targeting Heap user properties
  5. 5Map your identity column and the properties you want to write
  6. 6Click Save

See the documentation for full setup details.
