Measure

Polytomic connects your data warehouse, databases, and product analytics to Measure for reverse ETL. Send usage events into Measure to keep customer billing accurate, without writing code.

No double-billed events

Measure recognizes each transaction ID for 24 hours. A sync that retries after a failure replays safely instead of billing a customer twice for the same usage.

Flexible customer matching

Map usage to a customer by Measure's own ID or by your own customer identifier. Either one resolves the record, so there is nothing to look up first.

Custom usage properties

Attach counts, metadata, or plan details to every usage event through custom properties. There is no fixed schema to design around.

Example workflows

Sync product usage from your data warehouse into Measure for billing

What you can sync

Measure is supported as a destination. Add usage events from your data warehouse, databases, or product analytics into Measure to bill customers on their usage.

To Measure

Usage events tied to a transaction ID
Customer matches by ID or identifier
Billable items and metrics
Custom usage properties and metadata

How it works

Connect an API key and company ID. Map fields from your data warehouse, database, or product analytics into Measure as usage events. Each event carries a transaction ID, a timestamp, an item ID, and a customer reference for billing.

Measure remembers each transaction ID for 24 hours. A retried sync never double-bills a customer. Map a customer ID or your own customer identifier on every event. Measure requires one of them to resolve the customer.

  • Usage events carry a transaction ID, timestamp, and item ID
  • Customers resolved by your own identifier or a customer ID
  • Replayed transaction IDs recognized for 24 hours, preventing duplicates
  • Custom usage properties attached to every event as plain JSON
  • Every sync only adds usage events, never updates or removes them
  • Subscription IDs included when usage ties to a specific plan

How to set up

Measure authenticates with an API key scoped to your account, paired with the company ID that scopes every request. Generate the key from your Measure account settings before connecting.

How to get connected
  1. 1In Measure, generate an API key for your account and copy your company ID
  2. 2In Polytomic, go to Connections, click Add connection, and select Measure
  3. 3Enter the API key and company ID, then click Save
