Redshift Serverless

Polytomic connects Redshift Serverless to your data warehouse, databases, and SaaS tools for ETL and reverse ETL. Load CRM, billing, and product data into Redshift Serverless, or sync modeled results back out to your CRM and other tools, without writing code.

No persistent connection

Connect through AWS IAM and the Redshift Data API instead of holding open a database connection to your workgroup.

API throttling handled

Requests back off automatically when AWS returns Redshift Data API rate limit or throttling errors.

Deletes tracked automatically

Source deletes apply on the destination table automatically, with soft deletes by default and hard deletes available.

Example workflows

Load CRM, billing, and product data into Redshift Serverless

What you can sync

Move data between Redshift Serverless and your data warehouse, databases, and SaaS tools, in both directions.

From Redshift Serverless

Tables and views across schemas
Full table reads
Incremental reads on a tracking field
Unload to S3 for large table reads

To Redshift Serverless

Tables, created and migrated automatically
Create, update, upsert, replace, and append
Staged loading through your own S3 bucket
Soft deletes by default, with hard deletes available

How it works

Connect Redshift Serverless with an IAM role, using the Redshift Data API or a direct connection to your serverless endpoint. Polytomic discovers schemas, tables, and views automatically, and reads them in full or incrementally on a tracking field.

Writes still stage through your own S3 bucket and load with Redshift COPY, the same mechanism the standard Redshift connector uses. Tables and columns are created and migrated automatically as your source data changes, and deletes are reflected without extra configuration.

  • Connect using an IAM role and the Redshift Data API
  • Discover schemas, tables, and views automatically from your account
  • Read tables in full or incrementally on a tracking field
  • Loads stage through your S3 bucket and apply with COPY
  • Create, update, upsert, replace, and append write modes supported
  • Deletes reflected automatically, with soft and hard delete options

How to set up

Redshift Serverless authenticates through AWS IAM rather than a username and password. Provide the workgroup, database, and an IAM role that grants Polytomic access, then choose whether to connect through the Redshift Data API or a direct connection to your serverless endpoint.

How to get connected
  1. 1In AWS, create an IAM role that grants Polytomic access to your Redshift Serverless workgroup
  2. 2In Polytomic, go to Connections, click Add connection, and select Redshift Serverless
  3. 3Enter the database, workgroup, and IAM role, choose a connection method, and click Save
