Segment

Polytomic connects your data warehouse, databases, and SaaS tools to Segment for event reverse ETL. Send track and identify calls into a Segment source from your data warehouse and other systems, so warehouse derived events and user traits reach every downstream tool, without writing code.

Segment logo

Track calls from SQL

Turn a modelled table into events every Segment destination receives.

Identify calls with traits

Push user traits computed in your data warehouse into Segment.

One sync, many tools

Segment fans out to everything already wired up on your source.

Example workflows

Send warehouse derived events into Segment as track calls

What you can sync

Segment is supported as a destination. Send events and user traits from your data warehouse, databases, and SaaS tools into a Segment source.

From your sources

Data warehouses including Snowflake, BigQuery, and Databricks
Databases including PostgreSQL and MySQL
CRMs including Salesforce and HubSpot
Billing systems including Stripe and Chargebee

To Segment

Track calls with event name, timestamp, and properties
Identify calls with user traits
Matching on user ID or anonymous ID
Nested properties, traits, and context objects

How it works

Connect a Segment source with its write key and Polytomic sends data into it as proper Segment calls. A model becomes track calls carrying an event name, timestamp, and nested properties, or identify calls carrying user traits.

The appeal is fan out. Once data enters a Segment source, everything already connected downstream receives it, so a single reverse ETL sync reaches every tool wired into Segment rather than requiring an integration each.

  • Connect a Segment source using its write key
  • Build a model over your data warehouse or database
  • Map it to track calls with an event name and properties
  • Or map it to identify calls carrying user traits
  • Supply a user ID or anonymous ID on every row
  • Monitor sync health, record volume, and failures from one interface

How to set up

Create or choose a Segment source and supply its write key. Polytomic then sends batched track and identify calls into that source, from where Segment routes them onward according to your existing configuration.

How to get connected
  1. 1In Segment, create or select a source and copy its write key
  2. 2In Polytomic, navigate to Connections, then Add Connection, then Segment
  3. 3Paste the write key
  4. 4Build a model producing your events or user traits
  5. 5Map to track or identify, including the user or anonymous ID
  6. 6Run a small sync, confirm in Segment's debugger, then set a schedule

See the documentation for full setup details.
