Slack

Polytomic connects Slack to your data warehouse, databases, and SaaS tools for workplace data ETL. Replicate channels, messages, threads, users, and channel membership data to your data warehouses and other systems so conversation data can be analyzed alongside customer and support records, without writing code.

Messages and threads

Channel history plus thread replies, synced incrementally per channel.

Edits captured

A configurable lookback re-reads recent history so edits are picked up.

Optional live events

Events API webhooks can update records faster than polling alone.

Example workflows

Replicate Slack channels and messages into your data warehouse

What you can sync

Slack is supported as a source. Read channels, messages, and users, then land them in your data warehouse, databases, or SaaS tools.

From Slack

Messages and thread replies, synced incrementally
Channels and channel members
Users with profile and email
Raw Events API events through webhooks

To your destinations

Data warehouses including Snowflake, BigQuery, and Databricks
Databases including PostgreSQL and MySQL
Cloud storage including Amazon S3 and Google Cloud Storage
SaaS tools including Salesforce, HubSpot, and spreadsheets

How it works

This is a data ingestion connector rather than a notification integration. Polytomic reads channels, messages, thread replies, users, and channel membership out of Slack and into your data warehouse, where conversation data can be joined to everything else.

Messages and threads sync incrementally per channel using Slack timestamps, with a configurable lookback that re-reads recent history so edits are captured. Optional Events API webhooks can update records faster than polling on its own.

  • Connect Slack with a bot user OAuth token
  • Add the app to the channels whose messages you want to read
  • Read channels, channel members, and users
  • Read messages and thread replies incrementally per channel
  • Set a lookback window so message edits are captured
  • Optionally enable Events API webhooks for faster updates

How to set up

Create a Slack app with the read scopes you need, covering channel history, users and profiles, and related metadata, then supply the bot user OAuth token. The app must be added to each channel whose messages you want to read.

How to get connected
  1. 1Create a Slack app and grant the read scopes you need
  2. 2Install it to your workspace and copy the bot user OAuth token
  3. 3Add the app to every channel whose messages you want to read
  4. 4In Polytomic, navigate to Connections, then Add Connection, then Slack
  5. 5Paste the token and test the connection
  6. 6Select channels, messages, users, and members, then set a schedule
