Smartsheet

Polytomic connects Smartsheet to your data warehouse, databases, and SaaS tools for spreadsheet ETL and reverse ETL. Replicate sheet rows into your data warehouse and other systems, and write modelled data back into sheets your team already works in, without writing code.

Reads and writes rows

Sheets as a source, and as a destination with four write modes.

Creates sheets and columns

Bulk replication can create the sheet and its columns for you.

Matched on a column

Rows updated by matching a column you nominate, not by position.

Example workflows

Replicate Smartsheet rows into your data warehouse

What you can sync

Move data between Smartsheet and your data warehouse, databases, and SaaS tools, in both directions. Each sheet is a table, its columns are fields, and its rows are records.

From Smartsheet

Sheets, each exposed as its own table
Sheet columns as typed fields
Rows as records
Available to both models and bulk syncs

To Smartsheet

Create, update, create or update, and replace
Matching on a column you nominate
Creating a sheet and its columns through bulk replication
Removing stale destination rows on replication

How it works

Each Smartsheet sheet becomes a table: its columns are fields and its rows are records. That makes a sheet readable into your data warehouse and writable from a model, in both cases without anyone exporting a file.

Writes match on a column you nominate rather than on row position, so updates land on the right row even after someone has sorted or inserted rows. That is the difference between a sync you can trust and a spreadsheet that drifts.

  • Connect Smartsheet with OAuth
  • Read any sheet as a table, with columns as fields
  • Write rows with create, update, create or update, and replace
  • Match rows on a column you nominate
  • Let bulk replication create the sheet and its columns
  • Monitor sync health, record volume, and failures from one interface

How to set up

Authorize Polytomic against Smartsheet through the OAuth flow, which requests read, write, and create access to sheets along with workspace administration. Tokens are refreshed automatically. Once connected, your sheets appear as selectable tables.

How to get connected
  1. 1In Polytomic, navigate to Connections, then Add Connection, then Smartsheet
  2. 2Authorize with Smartsheet and grant sheet access
  3. 3Test the connection
  4. 4For reads, select the sheets you want and choose a destination
  5. 5For writes, build a model and map fields to sheet columns
  6. 6Choose your matching column and write mode, then click Save

See the documentation for full setup details.
